NFL legend JJ Watt is the latest big name to blast VAR after Luton Town’s controversial equaliser last night – and it led to his X account being blocked.

Burnley, who caused a stir this morning on social media as they announced the loan signing of David Datro Fofana, looked set to claim a crucial three points in their quest for Premier League survival at Turf Moor on Friday.

Zeki Amdouni’s first half strike looked to be enough to seal Vincent Kompany’s men the victory over the Hatters.

However, Luton snatched a draw after Carlton Morris headed home a cross in the 91st-minute to make it 1-1.

But he was made to wait several minutes after Clarets goalkeeper James Trafford appeared to be fouled in the build-up.

Elijah Adebayo looked to have blatantly impeded the stopper as the ball travelled into the box, preventing him from coming to collect the cross and allowing Morris the space to meet it and head home.

But, to the surprise of many, following a lengthy VAR check, the goal was given and it left Burnley absolutely furious.

And NFL star JJ Watt, who owns a minority stake in the club after investing with his wife Kealia back in May, did not hold back as he shared a clip of the incident on X.

The 34-year-old former Houston Texans defensive end wrote: “I’m new to this ownership thing, so if I get fined by the Premier League, so be it…

“This is as blatant and obvious of a foul as you could have. To miss this on the field AND miss this on VAR is truly disgraceful.”

Things then got worse for JJ Watt as he revealed that his account had been locked for copyright infringement due to him sharing the footage of the incident.

Burnley boss Kompany, whose team are now four points from safety and 19th in the table, was equally raging.

He said: “I don’t know what to say to my players. It’s ridiculous.

“It’s incredible. I don’t get it anymore. What is this here? There’s a clear attempt to stop the goalkeeper getting up.”

While Clarets defender Dara O’Shea also fumed: “I can’t get my head around the decision. None of us quite understands it and we don’t get any information on the pitch.

“We’re bitterly disappointed with the result. I keep going back to that decision and I just can’t understand it.”
