Rangers have been linked with a move for Hearts hitman Lawrence Shankland, who has scored 18 goals in 28 games this season.

But manager Philippe Clement is also said to be a fan on Batshuayi, who is now Gers’ number one target.

Batshuayi, 30, has reportedly failed to agree a new deal with Fenerbahce and could be allowed to leave this month.

Rangers hope to land Batshuayi on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

Reports in Turkey suggest Everton are also interested in luring the Belgian back to the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest were also linked to Batshuayi in the summer with claims he had even agreed personal terms.

Batshuayi spent six years at Chelsea where he netted 25 times in 77 games.

However most of his spell was spent out on loan at various clubs including Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, Crystal Palace and Besiktas.

He left permanently for Fenerbahce in 2022 and has rediscovered his goalscoring form with 28 goals in 52 appearances.

Batshuayi could be tempted by a return to the UK, where he may feel he has unfinished business.
