PREMIER LEAGUE history was made today as Ipswich’s relegation to the Championship was confirmed following a 3-0 drubbing at Newcastle.

With Southampton and Leicester already down, Kieran McKenna’s Tractor Boys knew they needed a miracle to escape the drop.

However, no such miracle was forthcoming, with the job only made even harder when Ben Johnson was sent off in the first half.

And Ipswich were duly cut apart by rampant Champions League hopefuls Newcastle, who had the perfect remedy as they welcomed Eddie Howe back into the dugout after illness caused him to miss the last two games.

Goals from Alexander Isak, Dan Burn and a first Premier League strike for William Osula saw Ipswich become the third and final relegated team of the season.

And with four games of the season still to play, it was the first time in Prem history that all relegations are confirmed with as many as four games to go.
