EURO 2024 may only just have finished but the new Premier League campaign is just around the corner.
And fans have already spotted one bizarre schedule change for an early-season blockbuster.
United’s Old Trafford tie against Liverpool will kick off 30 minutes before the traditional Super Sunday time[/caption] United’s FA cup victory over Liverpool was also moved to 3.30pm kick off last season[/caption]On just the third weekend of the new season, Manchester United face off with fierce rivals Liverpool, and new boss Arne Slot.
The game is taking Sky Sports’ prestigious Super Sunday spot.
But the Old Trafford showdown will NOT be at the regular 4.30 kick-off time.
Instead, the game is scheduled for half-an-hour earlier.
Likewise, Newcastle will play Tottenham at 1.30pm in the first Prem game of the day, while Celtic face Rangers in the Old Firm derby at 12:30pm, also on Sky.
The reason for the shift in scheduling remains unknown – but it is the only Super Sunday currently effected.
Last season United’s 2-2 draw with the then title chasing Reds kicked off an hour early after the police requested it.
Local authorities have taken issue with kick-off times and often believe that starting the game an hour or even 45 minutes earlier leads to less trouble and fan disturbance.
Fixture changes on September 1 on Sky
Celtic vs Rangers – 12:30pm kick off on Sky Sports
Newcastle vs Spurs – 1:30pm kick off on Sky Sports

A mix of policing concerns, transport woes and even a scheduling mix-up has previously contributed matches kicking off earlier.
It was the reason why United’s FA cup tie with Liverpool kicked off at 3.30pm, as did the Manchester derby earlier in the season.
United’s players reported back to Carrington for the start of pre-season training last week and have spent the past seven days putting the hard yards in on the training ground.
Erik ten Hag‘s men face Norwegian side Rosenborg BK at 5pm on Monday.
