A RACING punter’s life changed forever after they landed one of the biggest bets in history from just £35 at Fairyhouse.

Coral bosses admitted the enormous each way punt was among their biggest payouts ever after the impossible treble came in.

The monumental winning slip in all its glory – returning around £285,000

The punter needed just three horses to scoop the jackpot – but the astronomical odds made the bet look like it had no chance.

In reality it will go down as one of the greatest bets of modern times, returning a total of €331,452.80 (£285,000) from just €20 (£17.50) each way.

The bet was placed online with Coral for the first day’s racing of Fairyhouse’s three-day Easter Festival.

The first horse to oblige was Don Chalant at 9-1 who won a 2m4f maiden hurdle easily by seven lengths under jockey Michael O’Sullivan.

Decent – but then it really get rolling.

The punter also backed Ardera Ru at 33-1 but the horse returned 18-1 when winning a Listed handicap chase.

It meant the life-changing win all hinged on Mousey Brown in the 4.30.

The punter put them in their treble at 50-1 but Mousey Brown went off 33-1.

And they must have thought the bet was a loser when Willie Mullins’ 6-4 favourite Olympic Man led well after the last under jockey Paul Townend.

The horse, owned by Galopin Des Champs’ owner Audrey Turley, looked home and hosed in the 3m Listed hurdle.

But somehow Mousey Brown found loads on the run-in and won it in the dying strides, securing the monumental jackpot.

The winning betslip was posted online and, amazingly, the punter won an extra €50,000 with best odds guaranteed.

Coral’s David Stevens said: “This customer will have an Easter to remember after he somehow picked these three big priced winners at Fairyhouse, turning €40 into more than €330,000 as a result.

“Never mind chocolate eggs, this jackpot is more of a golden egg.

“It’s got to be right up there with the biggest payouts we’ve had, and in terms of Irish racing it definitely is.

“We’re all still looking at it here and wondering how he picked them. It was absolutely tremendous punting.”

In more good news for punters, bookies are fearing the biggest payout this century in the Grand National.

Red-hot favourite and defending champ Corach Rambler has been ‘absolutely hammered’ in the betting on the back of his Gold Cup third.

And Coral report the huge ante-post loser in their book would result in the biggest payout for the past 24 years.
