THIS unlucky punter saw more than £20,000 go up in flames after Ryan Moore’s ‘savage’ mid-race move cost him a monster payout.
The bettor posted a photo of their £15 each-way punt on Saudi Cup night last Saturday.
They picked out 12-1 Annaf who benefited from a magical Rossa Ryan ride to land the Group 2 Turf Sprint.
Sir Alex Ferguson was celebrating the second winner in the three-fold, Spirit Dancer, some 45 minutes later.
The legendary ex-Manchester United manager is one of the horse’s three co-owners.
And they were a combined £945,000 richer after the Richard Fahey-trained seven-year-old stormed to victory in the Neom Turf Cup.
It meant the punter’s big treble rolled onto the final leg – Enemy in the Group 3 Longines Red Sea Turf Handicap.
Trained by Ian Williams, the punter backed Enemy at 9-1 but the money came and he was sent off 15-2 under Derby-winning jockey Richard Kingscote.
Making his move two furlongs from home in the 1m7f contest, Kingscote looked to have timed his run to perfection.
He hit the front with a furlong to go but switched to the outside and making eyecatching headway was Moore on Aidan O’Brien’s Tower Of London.
The 7-4 favourite still had some ground to make up with those watching at home clocked Moore’s devastating move.
With his horse still half a length behind Enemy, Moore casually looked across at Kingscote as if to say, ‘is that all you’ve got?’
And with barely 50 metres until the line he cajoled a bit more out of Tower Of London, who won by just a head in a photo finish.
Moore’s genius in the saddle – branded ‘incredible’ by one viewer and ‘savage’ by another – meant the punter missed out on a colossal £21,878.40.
Agonisingly, they could have cashed out for £2,068.20 before the final leg of the bet.
Enemy placing at 9-1 meant they pocketed £428.40 from their bet – a profit of just under £400.
