FORMER Dutch international Quincy Promes has been arrested at Dubai international Airport following his drugs charge.

According to reports in Holland, he is to be extradited back to his home country to serve a prison sentence for a huge smuggling rap.

The winger was sentenced to a six year jail sentence in February for aiding the import of 1,363kg of cocaine into the Netherlands.

That’s in addition to last year being sentenced to one-and-a-half years in jail for stabbing his cousin in the leg.

Promes, 32, did not attend either trial, with both taking place in Holland.

He instead opted to stay in Russia, where the 50-cap Dutch ace plays for Spartak Moscow.

Prosecutors, who originally wanted to give Promes a nine year sentence for drug trafficking, say he believes he enjoys an “untouchable” status in Russia.

Despite still playing for Spartak, he has lived in Dubai and not Russia for some time now according to Dutch publication De Telegraaf.

The player refused to return to Russia with his team after Spartak went to the UAE for warm weather training.

De Telegraaf report that he was living in a luxury hotel and dating American rapper DreamDoll, but was arrested in the Arab state on February 29 for his involvement in a car accident.

After consultations between the judiciary of Holland and Dubai, it was agreed that he would be extradited back to Holland.

He was under house arrest since being detained in February but that was converted to a jail stint today.

Promes can still object to the proposed extradition.
