“I just ask for all the prayer warriors to put their blessing hands on me and my family through these hard times. People were talking about my eyes last week,” Moss said.
“I’m battling something, man, and it’s something internal. Your boy is going to get through it.
“I got a great team of doctors and got a great family around me.”
After sharing that message, Moss decided to step away from the show for an “extended period of time” to focus on his health, according to ESPN.
“For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating ‘Countdown’ with his insight and passion,” the network said in a statement.
“He has ESPN’s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.”
NFL fans flocked to the support of Moss and shared their well wishes for his recovery.
“We’re all praying for you Randy!” one fan said.
“An NFL legend, hope all is well and he’s back on the air soon!” another fan said.
“Ugh. Hoping for the best for Randy Moss!” a third fan said.
“This is so sad to see. Prayers for Randy,” a fourth fan said.
Moss played 14 seasons in the NFL on his way to a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
He is most known for his time with the Vikings, but also spent time with the Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, and Minnesota Vikings.
Moss compiled 15,292 yards and 156 touchdowns in his career.
He retired from football after the 2012 season.
