"Rap Sh!t" Delays Season 2 Premiere Amid Ongoing Strikes

Issa Rae and Syreeta Singleton's "Rap Sh!t" won't be returning for season two this month, having been delayed until November amid the ongoing WGA and SAG strikes. Fans can, however, still look forward to more comedy and banging music when the second season arrives. On July 10, Max announced the show's original return date and released the first glimpse at season two, which shows Shawna (Aida Osman) and Mia (KaMillion) navigating the shaky start to their budding rap careers. Following their big break at the end of season one, the upcoming installment teases that the rap duo's newfound fame isn't all that it's cracked up to be (literally). "Rap Sh!t" made a huge splash last summer shining a light on Miami's hip-hop scene through the lens of two up-and-coming female emcees who couldn't be more different. Its social media angle and City Girls-esque plot drew viewers in, whereas its vibrant hip-hop soundtrack full of old hits and original tracks kept the buzz going. And all of that, combined with acting newcomers Osman and KaMillion as costars, is why the latter previously told POPSUGAR they were a "match made in heaven." Rae being attached to the successful project was a bonus, too. "['Rap Sh!t'] taught me that Black girls rock, and all they have to do is work hard and continue to open doors for other Black girls — shout out to Issa Rae!" KaMillion added. "We are walking in her blessings . . . I'm talking about Issa Rae the legend, the Issaverse, baby. It taught me that Issa runs the world, pretty much."
