Mbappe is able to finalise a free transfer for the summer with foreign clubs after entering the final six months of his Paris Saint-Germain contract.

Real Madrid have been long-term admirers and attempted to sign the World Cup winner last summer.

According to Sport, they are now ready to offload Vinicius Jr. in order to make space for Mbappe in their squad.

The report claims the Brazilian winger will be sold immediately if Mbappe joins.

President Florentino Perez does not believe the 23-year-old has the profile to be the club’s key man.

Instead, he would prefer to make Mbappe Real’s star player from next season, the report adds.

The news is a boost to Premier League clubs, with Manchester United recently linked with a potential move for Vinicius.

However, he has previously suggested he would only leave the Bernabeu to return to former club Flamengo.

In an interview with France Football and L’Equipe last year, he said: “I think I could stay here my whole career, but the club of my life is Flamengo.

“I promised my father I would go back one day. I have to keep this promise.”

Vinicius left Flamengo as an 18-year-old to join Real Madrid for around £40million in 2018.

He has since scored 69 goals and provided 68 assists in 243 appearances for the Spanish giants.

The Brazil international also grabbed the winner in the 2022 Champions League final, with the trophy one of ten he has won whilst in Spain.

Despite hamstring and thigh injuries this season, he has already scored ten goals across all competitions and penned a new deal in October through to 2027.
