How Real Madrid could line up with Mbappe next season

The Frenchman is heading into the final six months of his deal with Paris Saint-Germain and will be available as a free agent in the summer.

As of January 1 he will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs ahead of a future move away from the French capital.

And The Athletic have reported that Real Madrid are gearing up to try to convince the 25-year-old to choose the Bernabeu as his new home.

It comes after the LaLiga outfit pushed to make a deal with Mbappe in the summer of 2022 only for the superstar to agree fresh terms with PSG instead.

It is reported that a number of bigwigs at Real were left feeling betrayed by the France international after he led them to believe he was keen on making the move to Spain.

But despite the fracture in the relationship there is still understood to be interest from both parties and talks will continue in January.

However, it might not be easy for Madrid to get a deal over the line with concerns over upsetting the dressing room dynamic in the Spanish capital.

Mbappe is reportedly expecting a salary that would be more than double what the top earners at Real Madrid currently make – which could prove difficult with the club already trying to keep their wage bill under control.

Real are ensuring they don’t waste time on negotiations this time too by slapping a deadline on any talks with the former Monaco man.

The Athletic have reported that Real Madrid will give Mbappe until mid-January to make a decision on whether or not he will be joining the club.
