AMIR Khan is selling his luxury wedding venue after it hosted just a dozen marriages, his neighbours have claimed.

The boxer, 37, has put his £11.5 million venue in Bolton on the market just three months after hosting its first ever marriage.

The lavish Dubai-style tower features glass walls, a waterfall and palm trees as well as a helicopter pad.

However, locals claim The Balmayna venue is in the wrong place as it lies on a main road next door to car repair shops, a kebab shop and terraced houses which had been plagued by fly-tipping.

They claimed the huge venue has flopped.

Retired steelworker Bhoggi Patel, 66, said: “I’ve only seen one wedding there when there were big fireworks.

“It has flopped and it must have cost him a lot of money.

“We were all surprised he built it here. I know it’s his home town but he could have chosen somewhere nicer to build it.

“When you get married you want some nice gardens to have your picture taken and certainly not by a main road.

“I’m not surprised he’s selling up. He must have lost a fortune.

“Residents claim there have been more weddings of late after a slow start.”

Customer services worker Hijab Sayed, 26, said: “My house backs onto it.

“I can smell the meat when they are barbecuing it and I can look in.

“They cook the food outside and then take it in.

“There’s been about nine weddings in the last month or so but before that I think there had only been one.

“I’m not that surprised he’s selling. He seems to spend most of his time in Dubai.

“Maybe he has lost interest and it hasn’t been that busy.”

Retired textile worker Omar Amirat, 82, who lives near the entrance, said: “There was just the one wedding to start with.

“But then it has picked up in the last few weeks with quite a few weddings.

“You see a lot of very expensive cars here.

“However he has other businesses he was hoping to sell in there like shops and a conference centre.

AMIR KHAN has placed a whopping £12.5million price tag on his luxury wedding venue in Bolton.

The boxing icon made the announcement about the “Dubai-Style” venue on social media in the early hours of Friday morning.

In his post, the 37-year-old said: “I am looking to sell my wedding hall for £12.5m.

“The property features four floors, including three dedicated wedding floors and a rooftop events terrace.

“Additionally, there is parking available at both the front and rear, accommodating up to 200 vehicles.”

A follow up tweet added: “I would like to clarify that although I am in the process of selling the property, The Balmayna continues to operate without interruption.

“The business is flourishing, experiencing significant demand for weddings and events, and our schedule is rapidly filling with bookings extending into 2026.

“All operations and reservations will proceed as intended.”

Named “The Balmayna, the stunning venue is located in Bolton opposite a car wash and fly-tipping spot, which had left it within touching distance of broken fridges and dirty mattresses in January.

Khan had once aspired to hold boxing events there, but now it appears he is happy to cash in on that dream after inviting interested parties to get in touch by email.

“But no-one is interested in those. It has just been weddings.”

The dad-of-five added: “I think it might be turned into a shopping centre or flats.

“It’s a real shame it hasn’t worked out.

“I just think it was a strange place to build such an expensive venue.”

Khan announced the shock decision on his social media.

He wrote on X: ‘’I am looking to sell my wedding hall for £12.5 million.

“Additionally, there is parking available at both the front and rear, accommodating up to 200 vehicles.”

In January, broken fridges, settees and dirty mattresses were seen dumped by fly-tippers around the venue.

Mounds of household rubbish lay strewn across the streets leading up to the imposing structure.

However, this has been cleaned up and The Balmayna opened in May as the venue’s first-ever bride and groom celebrated their big day in style.

Videos showed guests being serenaded by violins in front of palm trees and eating fruit canapes served by staff in bow ties.

The bride then arrived in a horse-drawn carriage and the groom in a Rolls Royce.

The Sun has contacted representatives for Amir for comment.
