RIYAD MAHREZ has become the latest big name Prem star to move to Saudi Arabia – after completing his £30million to Al Ahli.

The Algerian was allowed to drop out of Manchester City’s pre-season tour of the Far East at the 11th hour last week.

However it has taken several days to put the finishing touches to his move – which will see him pocket at least £25m per year.

Now it has all been sorted and he becomes the second of Pep Guardiola’s treble winners to leave the Etihad this summer.

He follows former skipper Ilkay Gundogan out of the exit door and the manager admitted last week he did not expect these changes to his squad.

Mahrez, 32, was City’s record signing when he joined them from Leicester for £60m in summer 2018.

He has played a huge part in their recent success but Guardiola admitted last season he was not happy at being regularly left on the bench.

However he scored 78 goals in all competitions and leaves with four Prem title medals and a Champions League to his name.

He has been in England for just a few months short of a decade having previously helped the Foxes to their fairytale Prem title in 2016.

Mahrez said: “To play for City has been an honour and a privilege. I came here to win trophies and enjoy my football and I have done all that and more.

“I have had five unforgettable years and I’ve made a lifetime of memories.

“The manner of our title wins and the battles with Liverpool and Arsenal underlined our collective desire and mentality to be the best.

“City will forever be a huge and happy part of my life.”

Director of football Txiki Begristain said: “Riyad has been a major factor in our amazing success over the last five years. His contribution will not be forgotten.

“There are few wingers in world football who possess the levels of skill and technique that he does.

“He will be missed but everyone wishes him all the best as he begins a new chapter in his career.”

Mahrez is the second Prem big name to move to Saudi this week – following Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson’s transfer to Al Ettifaq.
