Snooker players are ordered to wear formal dress shoes for events.

However, O’Sullivan, 48, has not been complying with the standard regulations in recent months.

And instead he is rocking a pair of chunky black trainers.

But the world No1 will not get in trouble with snooker chiefs because he has a special exemption.

That is because O’Sullivan suffers from a troublesome foot condition.

Speaking in November, the seven-time world champion revealed on Eurosport: “I’ve got plantar fasciitis which is, the easiest way to explain it is, it’s like a bruise on your heel.

“So when you put your foot down, it’s really sore.

“Leather-soled shoes just absolutely batter my feet to pieces.

“So I’ve had to resort to getting some really big old soles on them, just to sort of give my foot a rest, basically.”

Despite his injury struggles, O’Sullivan has enjoyed a stunning start to 2024.

He secured a record eighth Masters title at Ally Pally last week, beating rival Ali Carter 10-7 in the final.

And that reignited their bitter feud that includes shoulder barges, snotgate and foul-mouthed rants.

Now he has backed it up with a superb run to the final of the World Grand Prix, where victory would see him seal a 41st ranking title of his remarkable career and another £100,000 in prize money.
