ROY KEANE unleashed a furious rant at Manchester United’s defending and game-management – leaving fans in stitches at him “spitting feathers”.

The former Red Devils captain was working for ITV as his old club faced Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final.

He watched United take an early lead through Scott McTominay but the visitors turned the scoreline on its head in the final few seconds of the first half.

Alexis Mac Allister finished off a move on 44 minutes to equalise, which Keane found completely unacceptable.

Assessing the goal at the break, he said: “It’s the biggest worry for United throughout this season, they are so open, particularly in midfield.

“They need someone to sit. It’s called game management.

“United have got to get somebody sat in there to try and protect their back four.”

As he then assessed Alexis Mac Allister’s equaliser, he said: “The intensity from the attackers players, my god.

“You’re talking about an FA Cup quarter final. Get to people, tackle.

“It’s far too easy for Liverpool, way too simple, people taking touches – get out to him.

“A lot of teams make the mistake of thinking that we’ve got the numbers back. Well it’s no good having the numbers back if you’re not aggressive. You’ve got to be aggressive in this game.”

Things got worse for United after Bruno Fernandes, who melted hearts with his kindness towards a young mascot beforehand, failed in an attempt to play it out from the back in injury time.

Liverpool reclaimed the ball and Mo Salah fired home to make it 2-1.

“For United to try and play out from the back in injury time – it’s criminal,” declared Keane.

Viewers quickly took to social media after watching the rant, and it did not take long for the comments to come flooding in.

One said: “Roy Keane fuming. Glorious.”

Another wrote: “I love listening to Roy Keane talk about @ManUtd – so full of the passion their players lack.”

While a third added: “Roy is raging man!”

Keane was a much happier man at full-time however, with United ultimately winning 4-3 in extra time thanks to an Amad Diallo goal at the death.

Things got even better a few minutes later when Ian Wright drew United against Championship side Coventry in the semi-finals.
