Roy Keane vs Jason McAteer tale of the tape: How ex-Man Utd and Liverpool stars compare ahead of proposed boxing fight

FORMER Manchester United star Roy Keane has been called out for a fight by his former Liverpool rival Jason McAteer.

Keane, 52, recently went through his 11 career red cards – one of which came for an elbow on his former Republic of Ireland team-mate in 2002.

Reigniting their 21-year feud, the former midfielder said: “He deserved it. I wouldn’t go that far [calling McAteer his team-mate].

“Just because you play with somebody doesn’t mean that you are mates.”

Responding to Keane’s comments McAteer, 52, said: “Yeah [I’m tired of it]. I’d rather he came in here now, and we just go, let bygones be bygones. Let’s just be civil.

“Or we can get in the ring for £1million each and fight it out! Eddie [Hearn], if you’re watching. Eddie Hearn, get him on the phone.

“Roy, come on. You’re better than that. And I promise to stop reacting.”

Should they get in the ring, Keane would boast a one-inch height advantage.

The duo would likely have to find a catchweight, due to the differential between them.

Keane is believed to weigh in at 169lbs, with McAteer lighter at 143lbs.

While the former United man received 11 career red cards, McAteer was no shrinking violet with five of his own.

Keane won 14 trophies to McAteer’s zero, but the latter went in a £4.5million transfer, while the most paid for the former was £3.75m.

The ex-Old Trafford skipper earned 67 caps for Ireland, with McAteer playing 52 times for his country.

Sky Sports pundit Keane reportedly has a net worth of £45m.

His beIN SPORTS rival McAteer is claimed to be worth £500,000.

We reckon both could earn a lot more if the likes of Eddie Hearn was to get Roy “Keano” Keane vs Jason “Trigger” McAteer on.

The biggest question is which ground would host: Old Trafford or Anfield?
