The pro wrestler also held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship once.

Sabu wrestled his final match on April 18 in Las Vegas for GCW during WrestleMania weekend, where he defeated Joey Janela.

He is said to have made his final public appearance at the Tri-State Wrestling Alliance reunion show convention last weekend.

Francine, a fellow WWE wrestler and friend of Sabu’s, wrote on X: “My heart is broken. Rest in peace to my friend Sabu. I love you always.”

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) posted an image of Sabu on X, with the text “In Memory of Sabu 1964 – 2025” written on it.

AEW wrote in the caption: “The wrestling world mourns the passing of Sabu.

“From barbed wire battles to unforgettable high-risk moments, Sabu gave everything to professional wrestling.

“Our thoughts are with his family, his friends and his fans.”

In his early career, Sabu was trained to be a technical wrestler by his uncle, a pro wrestler known as The Sheik.

But soon after, he rose to fame for his trademark style of hardcore wrestling, which he developed from 1993 to 2000 during his time with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW).

Sabu often took part in Japanese hardcore matches, teaming up with The Sheik, Tiger Jeet Singh and Horace Boulder.

In 1997, Sabu fought in a gruesome barbed wire match against Terry Funk, where he tore his biceps and taped the wound mid-match to keep going.

He popularized the use of tables, chairs and aerial assaults in hardcore wrestling.

The pro wrestler was also known for his signature moves like the Triple Jump Moonsault, Arabian Facebuster and Arabian Skullcrusher.

He often wrestled while injured or heavily bandaged, which took a heavy toll on his body.

In the 2000s, Sabu wrestled for TNA Wrestling and took part in WWE’s ECW revival from 2006 to 2007.

The details surrounding Sabu’s death have not yet been revealed, according to Wrestling Headlines.
