PAUL INCE has revealed how Sir Alex Ferguson went for him in a huge dressing room bust-up after he told the legendary Manchester United boss to “go f**k yourself.”
Ince, 56, scored 28 goals in 281 games for the Red Devils after joining from West Ham in 1989.
The midfield general garnered a fearsome reputation on the pitch, with many calling him ‘The Guv’nor’.
And Ince used his undoubted talents to help United land two Premier League titles, plus two FA Cups and a European Cup Winners’ Cup.
He ended up leaving for Inter Milan in 1995 before returning to England two years later with Liverpool.
But things could have panned out very differently had Ince been shown the door several seasons earlier.
In the 1992/93 campaign, Ince was involved in a mega standoff with Ferguson after a 3-1 win against Norwich.
Sir Alex was left fuming after Ince tried and failed to produce a rare piece of skill, allowing Norwich to have a late attack.
He lambasted the midfielder for trying to emulate some of United’s flair players.
But this only led Ince to bark back, telling Fergie to “go f**k yourself.”

Via William Hill, Ince told Up Front with Simon Jordan: “It happened after a game away at Norwich. We were 3-1 up and I’d had a very good game, I was playing really well.
“In the last five minutes, I tried to beat one or two players with the ball and got caught… that was it.
“We get into the changing room, everyone is high-fiving and saying ‘what a great result’. Sir Alex Ferguson comes in shouting and I’m thinking, ‘what’s he going mad for, we’ve just won 3-1?’
“He singles me out and says, ‘You, you’re not Ryan Giggs or Andrei Kanchelskis. Your job is to pass the ball!’. I said, ‘what the f*** are you on about?’
“He’s hollering and shouting, and getting closer and closer – I wasn’t having it. I didn’t care what the repercussions were, I really didn’t.
“I said to him, ‘gaffer, you can go f*** yourself. I don’t give a f*** gaffer, go and f*** yourself, do what you want. You’re moaning when we’ve just won, f*** off’.
“All of a sudden he said, ‘don’t talk to me like that’, and he went for me. Brian Kidd stood up, Lee Sharpe stood up.
“I said, ‘come on then’ – I’m wasn’t prepared to have that from him. But everyone jumped in and that was it. That was the end of the conversation. I got home and said to my wife, ‘what is wrong with me?’
“That red mist just descends and that’s it. But three days later we were fine.”
I hadn’t spoken to him for 48 hours, hadn’t said good morning or anything
Paul InceInce previously revealed how he and Fergie made up shortly after.
He said: “That was it, we got back on the coach, he didn’t speak to me, I didn’t speak to him.
“We came back in [to training] on the Thursday and were playing head tennis and Fergie was the referee.
“I hadn’t spoken to him for 48 hours, hadn’t said good morning or anything.
“It was first to 11, the score was 10-10 and the ball went up in the air, I did an overhead kick, the ball went right in the corner of the court and we won the game 11-10, we were jumping about celebrating.
“Sir Alex shouts ‘ball was out’ but it wasn’t out, but because I wasn’t speaking to him I couldn’t say anything.
“It was just bubbling inside me, but because I hadn’t talked to him in 48 hours I couldn’t contest the decision and he said ‘winners them’.
“I’m walking away and all of a sudden he shouts ‘Incey!’.
“I turned around and he said: ‘There’s only one guvnor here son!’ and I started to laugh and after that we were speaking again and that was it. That was the greatness of the man.”
