Sir Jim Ratcliffe ‘makes decision on Erik ten Hag’s future’ after agreeing £1.4bn deal to buy 25% stake in Man Utd

SIR JIM RATCLIFFE will reportedly allow Erik ten Hag to continue as Manchester United manager after agreeing a deal to buy a stake in the club.

The Ineos chief is set to take over the football operations at United once his 25 per cent stake is confirmed.

The British billionaire will prioritise improving the club’s recruitment[/caption]

Ten Hag is under pressure following United’s disastrous start to the season, though the Red Devils did pick up a valuable 1-0 win at Fulham on Saturday.

However recruiting a new manager is not a priority for Ratcliffe, claim the Mirror.

The British billionaire is more concerned with improving the club’s transfer recruitment.

And he is believed to be confident Ten Hag can change United’s fortunes if he is given time and the support of an effective recruitment strategy.

Ratcliffe, 71, reportedly wants to address the huge fees United have spent on players like Antony and Jadon Sancho in recent years.

It is understood he will spend £250million improving the club’s infrastructure, which could include re-organising the recruitment team.

Ten Hag will also be given funds to invest in January with the Red Devils keen to strengthen their defence.

The club is also said to be in the market for an experienced striker to support young Rasmus Hojlund, who is still yet to get off the mark in the Premier League.

United could also sell players when the transfer market re-opens with the club open to letting flop Antony leave.

The Brazilian could leave on loan along with Sancho, who is still banished from the first-team following his spat with Ten Hag.
