The broadcaster was forced to run a banner saying “We’re sorry about the sound problems.”

Shortly after the sound disapeearing, the picture also gave way.

A message from the broadcaster flashed up to apologise to fans for their broadcasting error.

It now appears that coverage of the game has been affected around the world.

Several fans on Twitter claimed that their broadcast had been affected on BeIn Sport.

Now French media site Instant Foot are claiming there is a global outage on coverage.

Florent Houzot, broadcaster from BeIn Sports confirmed the global outage, tweeting: “Sorry technical problem beyond our control which disrupts broadcasting on our antennas our teams are working to re-establish a quality connection and transmission as quickly as possible.”

Instant Foot claim there is an issue with the satellite tasked with broadcasting the game.

Sky Sports Main event has now stopped broadcasting the game and is instead showing Sky Sports News.

Several fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) were left frustrated with the outage.

One wrote: “This AFCON coverage on sky sports is a disgrace!”

Another sarcastically added: “Sky Sports absolutely smashing the AFCON coverage.”

While a third said: “Sky sports just gave up with the AFCON coverage.”

The game is taking place in Yamoussoukro in the Ivory Coast.

The Group C game is hosted in the Stade Charles Konan Banny de Yamoussoukro, one of the six stadiums built specifically for Afcon 2023.

The game features several Premier League names from past and present in action.
