Sky Sports to make broadcasting history with never-before-seen feature for Cricket World Cup semi-finals and final

SKY SPORTS are set to make broadcasting history during the Cricket World Cup semi-finals.

India take on New Zealand in the clash on Wednesday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India.

It is believed to be the first time a major broadcaster has done the move[/caption]

And Sky will break the mould by offering a new service with their commentary.

In what is being reported by the Daily Mail as a first-time event by a major UK broadcaster, Sky will offer viewers the chance to watch the game in another language on commentary.

Sky’s usual commentary featuring Nasser Hussain, former England captain Eoin Morgan and Ian Ward will provide coverage in English on Sky Sports Main Event.

But on sister channel Sky Sports Arena, viewers will be able to listen to the match with Hindi commentary.

It comes after Sky reportedly agreed a deal with Indian broadcaster Star Sports to bring the coverage to the UK.

This has also been extended to the final of the World Cup on Sunday, November 19, with Hindi commentary set to be available on Sky Sports Mix.

Sky have made the move as part of its commitment to appeal to a diverse audience and to help grow English cricket.

According to the 2021 Census, there are approximately 1.9 million people of Indian ethnicity in the UK.

The broadcaster has also sub-licensed the Cricket World Cup final out to Channel 5 as part of the ECB’s growth goal.

South Africa takes on Australia in the other semi-final, with the Springboks looking to repeat their winning feat in the Rugby World Cup last month.
