No more information has been released about the fan’s condition.

Ford, who came into the tournament as the No16 seed, suffered a 6-3 loss in the round of 16.

Three-time winner Ding made breaks of 126, 110 and 106 as he booked his spot in the quarter-finals.

Yet despite the disappointment of defeat, Ford was more concerned about the fan’s welfare during his post-match interview.

He said: “This guy collapsed in the crowd. Hopefully he’s alright and gets back on is feet.

“Hopefully World Snooker can do the right thing, give him a couple of tickets for the final and look after him.”

Elsewhere on Wednesday, 2011 winner Judd Trump sealed a one-sided 6-0 victory over Jamie Jones.

After clinching his spot in the last eight, Trump discussed missing out on the chance to meet David Beckham after turning up late to the premiere of Ronnie O’Sullivan’s Amazon documentary last week.

He said: “I never met Beckham. I never got the chance. I turned up late so I missed all of the photos.

“I saw Ronnie Wood [member of The Rolling Stones] as he was in the front row of the cinema. He said: ‘Hi.’

“I have met him a few times at the snooker.”
