Snooker star Judd Trump ‘goes full Michael Owen’ after storming to brutal win over 12-YEAR-OLD opponent

JUDD TRUMP schooled a 12-YEAR-OLD Chinese kid as he maintained his pursuit of the world No.1 spot.

The Juddernaut recorded breaks of 116, 109, 67 and 89 as he thrashed schoolboy Wang Xinzhong in a heldover qualifier for the International Championship in Tianjin.

Wildcard Wang – who was tall enough to reach across the table with the rest – racked in only 38 points across the six frames as he was handed a harsh snooker lesson.

Trump won his 21st match in a row, which is stretched across four tournaments, and he is aiming to finish the week on top of the world rankings.

The Bristol potter, 34, now plays Welshman Michael White in the last 64 and he said: “I went in there knowing I could not take him lightly. That’s what I had to do.

“It was tough on him. He has already played before today.

“So he would have been tired. He’s young. His first qualifying match was on at 9.30am and then he was playing me late at night.

“He tried to take everything on. At that age, you are not going to pot everything. When you come up against a top player, it’s going to be difficult.

“It will be a good learning curve for him.

“Did I feel for him at all? Not really, no.

“It will be amazing for him to get the opportunity to play in these amazing venues. He can see what level he needs to get to.

“He would have liked to have put on a better performance but he knows the standard on the professional circuit.”

Fans took to social media to react to Trump’s ruthless win, with one person tweeting: “No mercy .”

While some other fans likened his win to the time England icon Michael Owen faced 13-year-old goalkeeper Jamie Hutchinson in a shooting challenge.

The striker refused to take it easy on the academy prospect, prompting Everton legend Neville Southall to say: “Well done, he’s 13.”

Ronnie O’Sullivan, the world No.1, beat Ireland’s 1997 world champion Ken Doherty 6-1 and now faces Mary Joyce in the first round.
