FURIOUS Sunderland fans have accused the club of “rolling out the red carpet” for bitter rivals Newcastle ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup clash.

Eddie Howe‘s Magpies travel to the Stadium of Light this weekend for the first Tyne-Wear derby in almost eight years.

More than 700 of Newcastle‘s 6,000 travelling fans have paid £600 for a hospitality seat in the Black Cats Bar.

And they are set to be given a warm reception, with the walls already adorned with black and white banners.

Signs reading “We are United” and “Keep the black and white flying high” can be seen in and around the hospitality bar area.

Sunderland fans have been left livid as a result, with some even calling for the board to be sacked.

One person took to X, formerly Twitter, to write: “Can’t imagine any club doing this for anyone. We have done it for a club/fanbase we absolutely detest. Sack the board. KLD signed this off.”

Another commented: “Someone needs to be sacked. If this was signed off at the highest level then there is no redeeming themselves.”

One Sunderland supporter fumed at owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, adding: “Rolling on the black paint too by the looks of it. KLD has really failed to read the room here.”

While a member of the Newcastle United Supporters’ Club – who shared the images on social media – joked: “Can’t fault the hospitality of our hosts this weekend!”
