Supercomputer predicts Grand National with favourite Corach Rambler missing out as 14-1 outsider romps to victory

A SUPERCOMPUTER has predicted the winner of the Grand National – just in time for punters to stick a bet on.

The 176th edition of the annual event takes place at Aintree on Saturday, with thousands expected to attend once again.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the outcome of the historic race[/caption]

But a supercomputer has now predicted who will win the £500,000 prize[/caption]

However, in a slight change to the usual schedule, this year the feature race will be held at 4pm rather than the 5:15pm usual slot due to safety concerns.

These concerns have also seen the number of runners slashed from 40 to 34.

That means there are fewer possible options for winning the £500,000 prize up for grabs for the winner.

But the supercomputer from GrandNational.org.uk has predicted who will emerge victorious.

The numbercruncher factors in a range of characteristics such as age, handicap and jockey name from all previous winners.

It has checked the characteristics of all the 175 previous victorious horses and the personnel behind them since the first race in 1839

And it tips a typical Grand National champion to be a nine-year-old horse with a 10st 7lbs handicap.

With that in mind, the supercomputer has tipped 14/1 runner Limerick Lace to win the race.

Mr Incredible is tipped to come second at 12/1 with Noble Yeats in third at 20/1, Run WildFred in fourth at 66/1 and Meetingofthewaters in fifth at 8/1.

These top five come in contrast to the bookies’ favourites including 5/1 Corach Rambler and 7/1 I Am Maximus.

A spokesperson for GrandNational.org.uk said: “Our Supercomputer is on great form, after first correctly predicting the winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2022 and then picking the champ for this year’s series of Dancing On Ice.

“So, if the Supercomputers says Limerick Lace will win the Grand National this year, it’s certainly worth a punt – and at 14/1, the horse represents decent value to punters.”

One thing that is certain is that punters are fuming over the price of a drink at the course.

The diabolical prices on the drinks menu at the meeting have been revealed, with racegoers set to fork out at least £7.50 for a pint of beer (not including Guiness) and ciders.

Even a 330ml can could cost as much as £7.

A single serving of wine will cost at least £9.50, with cocktails coming to £13 a pop.

Soft drinks are a more economical but still eye-popping £3.20, with water also priced at £2.90.
