While a third added: “Feel for Ayden Heaven. He’s been surprisingly good since he joined. Injuries can be terrible though. Hope he recovers well.”

Heaven had not been expected to break into the first team so quickly at Old Trafford.

He was signed with a view for the future but caught Amorim’s eye during his Europa League cameo.

Prior to Sunday’s game, Amorim said: “If he continues like that he is going to play.

“Of course he is young and he didn’t play much this season, maybe only 45 minutes for the Under-21s, then a few minutes here and now a full game.

“I really like his confidence. I like his pace, I think he is good in defending the box and I think he is quite complete.

“But he has a lot of work to do in the Premier League.”

He was the coolest man inside Old Trafford twice as he slotted home penalties either side of half-time to put his side in control against the Spaniards.

Joshua Zirkzee was another who impressed as Manchester United secured a tie against Lyon in the quarter-finals.

But it wasn’t all positive.

Rasmus Hojlund drew a blank yet again. That’s now 21 games and no goals – the equivalent of over THIRTY HOURS without the £72m striker hitting the net.
