ROY KEANE has lamented one “scary stat” for Manchester United this season.

Following a 3-1 defeat to a Phil Foden-inspired Manchester City, the Red Devils have now lost 11 Premier League games this season.

This figure is two higher than the amount they lost from all of last season, with 11 league games still to play this season.

It is also just the fourth time Man Utd have hit double figures for losses in the Premier League era, and club legend Keane highlighted the “scary” connotations of it going forward.

Appearing on Sky Sports, the 52-year-old said: “That’s 11 league games they’ve lost. That’s one scary stat when you consider where United are.

“Obviously they gave up so many goals in defeats. We spoke last week in the Fulham game, they lacked a bit of energy.

“In the last 20 to 25 minutes City were just men versus boys at the end.

“United were just hanging in there and making mistakes at the end.

“The lads coming off the pitch not quite getting up to speed while City’s players were coming on and making a difference and giving them energy.

“Towards the end you’re thinking it could be four or five. You have to take it.”

Others stats from the game saw Man Utd record just three shots, with one on target, which is the second-lowest they have managed since Opta began collecting data in 2003.

The club record for defeats is 12, coming in 2013/14 under David Moyes interim Ryan Giggs and 2022/23 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and interim Ralf Rangnick.

Man Utd finished sixth and seventh in those respective seasons.

Results elsewhere saw Erik ten Hag‘s side fall 11 points behind Aston Villa in fourth and six behind Tottenham in sixth.

As it stands England will not be getting one of the coveted two extra spots ahead of next season’s Champions League reform.

However, the current co-efficient with Italy and Germany top would change following this weeks European fixtures.
