This 25-1 tip screams value for the Ultima at Cheltenham Festival – I think there’s improvement to come

YOU don’t need me to tell you how impressive Sir Gino was in winning the Triumph Hurdle trial at Cheltenham at the weekend.

He hammered Burdett Road and, while his connections have tried to make excuses, it’s hard to see him turning that form around at the Festival.

Nicky Henderson’s star is only 6-4 for the Triumph Hurdle but some books are even skinnier at evens.

You would expect him to improve for the run and he’s one of the most solid short prices for next month.

GINNY’S DESTINY put himself right in the picture for the Turners with his very impressive success.

Gaelic Warrior runs at the DRF this weekend and is the 4-5 favourite but it might be worth having a little each-way nibble at Paul Nicholls’ hopeful.

He has the vital proven form around Cheltenham which could give him the edge even over Gaelic Warrior.

The yard won the Turners last season with Stage Star and he looks easily as good. This was a more impressive win than his victory at the December meeting and there could be even more to come.

A couple of firms are still 11-2 which looks a decent each-way price to me. A blip from Gaelic Warrior at the weekend would shorten it while he won’t drift much if his main rival hacks up.

From the same race, THEATRE MAN really caught the eye finishing strongly into second.

He was a mile behind at the bottom of the hill before charging home and closing the gap on Ginny’s Destiny all the way to the line.

I wasn’t sure if there was an ideal race for him at the Festival but I notice he is 25-1 for the UItima which would appeal to him more.

He looks capable of improving again and a small each-way bet at that price could pay dividends.

His current handicap mark of 137 should just about get him a run without saddling him with too much weight.

Both the Cotswold Chase won by Capodanno and Elixir De Nutz’s victory in the Clarence House were decidedly underwhelming.

Jonbon will do well to even line up at Cheltenham after his shocking error at the fourth-last.

Capodanno’s only feasible option is the Gold Cup and he doesn’t jump well enough to figure in that.

The Cleeve Hurdle is hard to assess with Noble Yeats finishing well to chin Paisley Park on the line.

He’ll have to step up again to win the Stayers’ but the first three including Dashel Drasher will have an each-way shout.

I still rate TEAHUPOO much the best in the division if he gets his desired cut in the ground.

Gidleigh Park shut me up with a battling success in the closing Grade 2 hurdle.

I didn’t like him before the race but he kept going to score by half a length.

He will need to find more to win at the Festival in either the Baring Bingham or Albert Bartlett.
