TNT SPORTS will not broadcast a live Premier League match this weekend due to a little-known TV rule.

The broadcaster has a rights deal with the league for 52 live matches a season.

A majority of those matches are in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off at 12.30 each weekend.

However, this weekend sees no early kick-off and no Premier League match on TNT Sports.

Instead, Sky Sports will broadcast four matches, starting with Friday night’s East Midlands Derby between Leicester and Nottingham Forest.

The absence of a match from TNT Sports comes from a clause in their broadcast package.

As a result, the broadcaster has to choose four blank weekends throughout the season.

The next instance of this will occur on the weekend of November 30 to December 1.

Meanwhile, TNT Sports are instead showing live A-League and Serie A action this weekend, including Inter Milan vs Juventus on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Sky Sports’ coverage continues with the Saturday Night Football between Everton and Fulham.

Super Sunday will then feature Chelsea vs Newcastle and Arsenal vs Liverpool.

TNT Sports’ Premier League offerings return next weekend with Newcastle hosting the Gunners in their usual 12.30pm Saturday slot.

The broadcaster agreed a new four-year TV rights deal last year, which begins next season.

It will see the continuation of their 52 live matches across the campaign, primarily with 32 Saturday 12.30pm kick-offs.

A further 20 midweek matches will also be shown across two rounds of fixtures.

The deal runs from the 2025/26 season to the end of the 2028/29 campaign.
