TOUR DE FRANCE champion Tadej Pogacar is set to earn more than most Premier League footballers.
The Slovenian icon’s new contract will see him net £41.6million over the next six seasons.
This amounts to roughly £7million-per-year, plus bonuses for major wins, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
And his release clause has been set at a whopping £167million.
This makes it impossible for rival teams to entice him away from UAE Emirates.
Pogacar is set to become the best paid professional cyclist in history after completing one of the greatest seasons in road racing.
He already bags nearly £5million-per-year, making him the sport’s top earner.
By comparison, the average annual wage in the Prem is around £3million.
The 26-year-old won the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and the World Championships for a historic triple crown.
In fact, only Ireland’s Stephen Roche and the great Eddy Merckx have matched that feat of winning all three in the same year.

Pogacar enjoyed victories on 25 of the 58 days he was racing this year.
The Spanish grand tour is the only one left for him to conquer.
Pogacar now has four grand tour wins overall to go along with seven victories in the prestigious one-day Monuments.
He is set to try and defend his world title in Rwanda next September.
Closest rivals Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel are set to earn £4million next season at Visma-Lease a Bike and Soudal-Quick-Step respectively.
Pogacar previously won the Tour de France back-to-back in 2020 and 2021.
He is engaged to professional Slovenian cyclist Urska Zigar, 27, who rides for Team BikeExchange.
The loved-up couple met at a training camp in their home country.
