The keeper also had his bank account plundered before being dumped in a forest.

He is now recovering in a Nairobi hospital following his abduction in the nation’s capital on Sunday.

Olang’o has helped KCB to ninth in the east African country’s 18-team top league this season.

But he suffered a deep knife wound to his thigh, as well as head and shoulder injuries, before his captors set him free in the Ngong forest south of Nairobi.

Concerns grew for the keeper’s safety when he failed to show up for training on Monday.

KCB announced: “We have received reports from the family of Brian Olang’o that he has been missing from 6pm on March 10.

“We have been informed that he sent his wife an SOS, stating that he is not in a safe place.”

The player’s brother Kevin told local media two Kenyans and a Nigerian man abducted Brian near a shopping mall.

He said: “The police tried to track Brian’s phone, but it was difficult as it was on and off.

“The entire family is very distressed. We trust the police to help.”

A traumatised Olang’o finally managed to call for help, and rescuers took him to Nairobi’s Radiant Hospital.

His club said in a statement: “The family of our keeper Brian Olang’o has confirmed that the player was found safe.

“We thank everybody for their concern.”

KCB, backed by the Kenya Commercial Bank, play at the 15,000-capacity Nairobi City Stadium.

They finished fifth in the KPL last season.
