And time was running out for the Bundesliga side as Kane called for his future to be sorted by Sunday – when Tottenham kick off their Premier League campaign away at Brentford.

But now they have had yesterday’s fourth bid of around £94m accepted by Spurs chief Daniel Levy.

Bild journalist Christian Falk reports that Bayern were “optimistic” a deal could be completed today.

However, the new report also goes on to state the England captain, 30, must now “make a decision” regarding his future.

Kane had been “leaning towards staying”, but the agreement of a fee between the two clubs now moves him a huge step closer towards exiting Spurs.

The deal would see him earn £21.6m per year – which works out as £415,000 per week. That’s nearly double the £200,000-a-week he’s on at Spurs.

Bayern want to unveil him on the pitch in Munich at the weekend before their Super Cup game against RB Leipzig, although that seems unlikely.

It is expected he would be unveiled in a press conference at some point next week before their opening Bundesliga game against Werder Bremen on Friday night.

Kane is understood to have been enjoying life under new coach Ange Postecoglou.

And he was not pining for a move in the same manner he had been back in 2021 when Manchester City were chasing him.

But an accepted offer from Bayern now presents him with the perfect opportunity to leave.

What it means for Tottenham

Kane is the Lilywhites’ all-time top scorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances.

He is also just 47 goals short of Alan Shearer’s record Premier League tally of 260.

But he now looks like he could be jetting off to Germany as he searches for the first silverware of his career – with Spurs fans left devastated as they reacted to his imminent departure.

Kane has entered the final 12 months of his contract.

If he decides to stay at Spurs, he could leave for free at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the club are keen to tie him down to a longer deal.

But the lack of progress regarding a new contract has led Tottenham to consider a sale this summer.

And SunSport have linked SEVEN strikers as possible replacements for Kane if he does leave Spurs.

What it means for Bayern Munich

How Bayern Munich could line up with Kane

Bayern have won the Bundesliga in each of the last 11 seasons – snatching it away from Borussia Dortmund on the final day of the 2022/23 campaign.

And the addition of Kane would make them heavy favourites to secure a 12th successive league title.

But Bayern’s history of signing English players is a scarce one.

Just TWO English stars have pulled on the red of Bayern in the past – Owen Hargreaves and Omar Richards.

Hargreaves won four Bundesliga titles and the Champions League during his seven years in the first team.

Richards spent just one season with the German giants – making 17 appearances before leaving for Nottingham Forest.
