TOTTENHAM have been linked with a shock move for Chelsea ace Romelu Lukaku.
Spurs are set to enter the striker market should Harry Kane complete his move to Bayern Munich.Tottenham could make a move for Romelu Lukaku to bolster their attack[/caption] He would be a replacement for Harry Kane, who is expected to join Bayern Munich[/caption]
Kane’s exit from North London will leave Spurs with a major hole in their attack, considering he is the club’s record goalscorer.
Lukaku is currently training by himself after being frozen out at Stamford Bridge.
The Belgian striker was expected to make a move back to the Serie A this summer, but deals have broken down.
Although the report does claim that Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou “is not a fan of Big Rom from a technical point of view”.
It also suggests Spurs could move for Genk prospect Gift Orban or Porto star striker Mehdi Taremi for £26m instead.
The club have already signed Argentinian striker Alejo Veliz, 19, this summer, but he is expected to be one for the future.
Chelsea are determined to sell their £325,000-a-week top earner for £34m – and are unwilling to budge on that figure, having rejected a loan offer from Juventus.
With Spurs set to bank £104m from Kane’s sale, they could afford Lukaku’s price tag.
Lukaku has had a mixed success rate in the Premier League during his career.
However, at Old Trafford, he never found his best form despite netting 42 goals in 96 appearances in all competitions.
This led to an exit to Inter, where he was brilliant alongside Lautaro Martinez as they led the club to the Serie A title.
Lukaku was then bought again by Chelsea but, after a promising start, struggled to maintain his form.
