Spurs have been strongly linked with a £30million move for Van de Ven this summer.

He was also a target for Liverpool earlier in the window but now looks set to join Ange Postecoglou’s side instead.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are close to reaching an agreement with Wolfsburg for the transfer.

Talks are said to be ongoing over the remaining details of the deal before it can be completed.

Van de Ven has already agreed personal terms with Spurs.

The 22-year-old joined Wolfsburg in 2021 and played in all but one of their Bundesliga matches last season.

He is capable of playing at left-back as well as his preferred role in the centre of defence.

If Spurs can finalise the deal then Van de Ven would become their fourth signing of the summer.

James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario and Manor Solomon have already arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of the new season.

Postecoglou could still make further additions to his squad, though, with Gent striker Gift Orban the latest player to be linked with the club.

The Nigerian forward is one of several names being considered as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.

Kane’s future remains unclear following a new bid from Bayern Munich for the England captain.

However, he has told Spurs that he wants the situation to be resolved before their first league match on August 13.
