Tottenham ‘set for huge cash influx’ thanks to forgotten wonderkid who NEVER played in Premier League

TOTTENHAM are set for an unexpected cash boost from a transfer involving a forgotten star that never even played for them in the Premier League.

Spurs have wasted no time in the January transfer window by moving fast to bring in two new additions.

Ange Postecoglou first swooped to sign Germany international forward Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig.

Then the North London side announced the signing of defender Radu Dragusin from Serie A outfit Genoa yesterday. 

Postecoglou is still believed to be looking for further additions before the window closes and now his transfer budget looks set to be bolstered by a move involving a star not even on their books.

Tottenham signed winger Jack Clarke from Leeds back in 2019 for £10m but the then teenager failed to make the breakthrough in the capital, making just four appearances in the cup.

Having initially gone back to Elland Road on loan, he then had spells with QPR and Stoke prior to joining Sunderland for the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.

He instantly rediscovered his top form for the Black Cats and helped them to win the League One play-offs, convincing them to sign him permanently.

Clarke, 23, followed up that form with another great season last term as Sunderland reached the Championship play-offs, and he continues to shine for them in the second tier.

He has scored 12 goals and produced two assists so far in the current campaign and now has a FIVE of Premier League clubs battling it out to sign him.

We reported how Brentford, West Ham and Crystal Palace are all reportedly preparing bids for Clarke this month.

And Tottenham will now be casting a keen eye on developments as speculation mounts that Sunderland will accept an offer of around £20m for him.

That is because Spurs “will benefit from any sale”, according to football.london.

They state that although Tottenham only sold him for £750,000, they insisted on having a 25 per cent sell-on clause.

And that means that they could pocket £5m if he departs the Stadium of Light for the reported figure being quoted.
