TROY DEENEY has claimed the playing offers have “started to roll in” following his axing as Forest Green Rovers manager.
The former Watford man was given the boot by Rovers on Thursday after only THREE WEEKS in charge of the League Two strugglers.
Troy Deeney was sacked as Forest Green Rovers boss this week[/caption]Deeney was in charge for a total of six games before Rovers chief Dale Vince decided to relieve him of his duties.
The 35-year-old joined Rovers as a player-manager last August after his release from Championship outfit Birmingham City.
And he claims a number of clubs have already got in contact with him about signing him as on a free transfer.
During an appearance on talkSPORT, he said: “This happened on Thursday.
“The offers to get back playing have, obviously, started to roll in as well.”
As thrilled as he is to still be a wanted man, Deeney insists he won’t make any rash decisions about his playing future.
He continued: “We have to remember that I was dropped in at the deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, dep end three weeks ago.
“I’m just trying to take the weekend to recalculate everything about what’s been going on and we go again from Monday and we’re back to business.”
Deeney reckons he’s still got what it takes to compete in The Championship, despite suggestions otherwise.

He said: “I dropped down for the opportunity to coach and learn.
“And for whatever reason, I ended up being in a situation where that probably ended up being expedited by 18 months.
“Earlier than it needed to be.
“To the outside world, it’s like, ‘Oh, he dropped down to League Two, he can’t do it anymore.’
“It’s very the opposite to that. Contrary to what people might think, I’m still fit and available.
“And I’m still very useful as a footballer. We’ll see what the options are and we’ll go from there.”
One place he won’t go however is Saudi Arabia.
Writing in his exclusive column for The Sun, he revealed he turned down the opportunity to move to the Saudi Pro League because he would have been barred from living with his family.
