DUSTIN POIRIER admitted that he saw red before starting a street brawl after his wife was inappropriately groped by a man during a party.

The American broke several bones as he lost out to Islam Makhachev in his third attempt to become undisputed 155lb champion at the start of June.

But a resurfaced clip has gone viral on X after Poirier featured on Theo Von’s podcast in March.

The pair discussed Poirier’s history in street fights.

He said: “I haven’t been part of a street fight in I don’t know how long. The last one I can think of was at Mardi Gras.

“I was at one brother’s house, and there was a street party.

“My wife was leaning over a fence talking to somebody and then a guy from next door came and bent over her back while she was bending over and put his hand on her stomach.

“And he started talking to her ear. Bro I ripped him off. A buddy of mine just started dropping people left and right.

“Every shot we had landed. He dropped 100 percent from the field that night.”

A Mardi Gras party celebrates the last day of carnival season in the United States and falls on Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day.

Poirier’s long-time rival Conor McGregor commented on the throwback X video of Poirier describing how a man disrespected his wife.

McGregor questioned Poirier’s wife’s loyalty by writing: “Do a DNA test lad,” after sharing the video snippet.

The Notorious Irishman has since deleted his baseless and out-of-line tweet.

Poirier broke McGregor’s leg during their third and final fight in March 2023.

McGregor’s attack on Poirier’s family appears to be in response to ‘The Diamond’ poking fun at his withdrawal from a comeback fight against Michael Chandler on June 29.

Meanwhile McGregor stepped out in public for the first time on Saturday since revealing the injury that forced him the bout.

McGregor took to social media to reveal a broken toe suffered in training forced his withdrawal.

A few days later, Poirier celebrated Father’s Day by sharing a picture of him holding two children whose heads had been replaced by pictures of McGregor and Chandler.
