UGLY Betty star Eric Mabius has been arrested for battery in Florida as cops release his shocking mugshot.

The actor, 53, was detained at the Nassau County Jail and Detention Center just before 6am, as first reported by TMZ.

Mabius allegedly “pushed a female victim, knocking her to the ground and pulling out ‘fistfuls’ of her hair” at The Goat on Lofton Square Ct.

In a charge sheet seen by The Sun, he faces two misdemeanor charges, battery and resisting an officer without violence.

Mabius’ unrecognisable mugshot appeared to show the Ugly Betty star with a bruised and cut right eye.

A force spokesperson said: “Nassau County Sheriff’s Office arrested 53-year-old Eric Mabius this morning on charges of battery and resisting law enforcement without violence.

“According to deputies, the incident occurred at The Goat on Lofton Square Ct., where Mabius and a 40-year-old woman were reportedly intoxicated and creating a disturbance.

“Witnesses stated that after the bartender asked the female to leave multiple times, both Mabius and the woman began spitting on several patrons.

“The situation escalated when Mabius allegedly pushed a female victim, knocking her to the ground and pulling out ‘fistfuls’ of her hair.

“A bystander intervened, pulling Mabius away from the victim.

“When deputies arrived, they reported that Mabius became increasingly belligerent outside the establishment and repeatedly failed to comply with instructions to remain seated during the investigation.

“At one point, Mabius allegedly attempted to walk behind a deputy, prompting several deputies to escort him back to a bench and place him under arrest for resisting without violence.

“Although the victim declines to press charges, both Mabius and the female were arrested for simple battery and resisting without violence.”

Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper said: “This type of behaviour will not be tolerated in our community, regardless of celebrity status.

“Our deputies quickly dealt with an uncooperative individual, and we’re thankful no one was seriously injured during this unfortunate incident.”

The 53-year-old is best known for his role as Daniel Meade on Ugly Betty alongside America Ferrera.

He played the Mode fashion editor while the popular show ran from 2006-2010.

Mabius shot to fame in the mid to late 1990s featuring on hit programmes such as The L Word and Chicago Hope.

While Ugly Betty was his breakthrough role, his other credits include The O.C., Blue Bloods, Chicago Fire, Scandal and many more.

He also starred in starred in the 2019 Hallmark movie It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas, and the Hallmark series Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

Speaking to TV Tonight in 2021, Mabius confirmed there have been talks about a possible reunion or revival of Ugly Betty.

He said: “There’s something being discussed, but I’m not at liberty to say.

“We had an abrupt ending and I think that we all felt that we didn’t have enough time to finish telling the stories that needed to be told,’ he shared.

“I think Ugly Betty was ahead of its time and I think that it would be more timely right now than ever.”

Mabius’ most recent on-screen role was in Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up, in 2023.
