THE curious case of the jockey who punters want banned for life after he abruptly fell of a leading horse has taken an ‘unusual’ twist.
An investigation has been launched into Alvinio Roy’s spectacular unseat from Special Force.
Footage of the tumble has gone viral, as it looked like Roy was home and hosed on the horse before he dramatically exited the saddle.

According to local press, an ‘unusual’ step was taken to send Roy a summons letter on Monday, two days after the incident.
Lexpress.mu say the move is ‘unusual’ because it normally ‘takes time for investigations to be conducted’.
Turns out the inquest into the fall was meant to be held on Wednesday but has been delayed because Roy is ‘unwell due to his injury’.
A statement read: “Following medical certificate received from jockey A Roy this afternoon, the enquiry scheduled for Wednesday, August 14, is postponed.”
The rearranged hearing will be held on Wednesday, August 21 – and comes as a former chief steward admitted the fall looked ‘bizarre’.
Ian Paterson said: “It’s bizarre. At the very least it looks like incompetent riding.”
While his fellow former steward Alain Rousset said a second view of the incident could prove conclusive.
He said: “It is important to view the images from the 1800-metre camera.
“Check if the boot lifts, which would mean that it did not come off the stirrup.
“If that is the case, then he did it on purpose.”
That interpretation of the fall ties in somewhat with the official stewards’ report lodged after the race, which made reference to the stirrup issue.
The report read: “Soon after entering the straight, jockey A Roy (Special Force) lost his right stirrup, after which the left stirrup was out.
“Jockey A Roy seemed to have lost balance and fell off his mount. An enquiry will be opened into this incident.”
Whatever actually happened, it’s clear punters want firm action to be taken.
Of almost 1000 votes cast on a Facebook post about the incident, the overwhelming majority were in favour of dishing out a lifetime ban to Roy.
One punter asked ‘how does this happen?’ while another labelled the scenes a ‘travesty’.
But any punishment will be down to the governing body.
The race itself was full of drama with two other jockeys being rushed to hospital after being unseated.
Only three of the seven starters finished the Flat race, which was delayed after one of the horses, Romanus, played up ‘violently’ in the stalls.
While another runner, Casimiro, fell and collided with two other horses, leading to the jockey pile-up.
The controversial race was won by Alpenhorn while Rochester, a stablemate of Special Force, finished second.
