Lindelof, 30, went down in the closing stages of the first half and looked upset on the pitch.

After being checked on by Manchester United‘s medical staff he was subbed off the pitch.

The defender went straight down the tunnel and looked visibly emotional as he took off his shirt.

Manager Ruben Amorim was forced to send on veteran defender Jonny Evans in his place.

Fans have reacted to the injury to Lindelof on social media, and many feel sympathetic for the former Benfica man.

One posted: “Sad seeing Lindelof leave the field injured. You could see how upset he was too.”

A second commented: “Not nice to see players upset like that due to injury. Hope Lindelof’s injury isn’t too bad.”

A third wrote: “An absolute nightmare for Victor Lindelof as he’s forced off with another injury.”

A fourth said: “Feel sorry for him that he’s injured again.”

Another added: “Poor Lindelof.”

Man United were 1-0 down in North London when Lindelof was forced off the pitch.

Dominic Solanke fired Spurs ahead in the 15th minute as he capitalised on an error from Altay Bayindir.

Dejan Kulusevski made it 2-0 as he capitalised on a poor clearance from Lisandro Martinez.

Lindelof joined Manchester United back in 2017, but his time at the club was blighted by injury.

His latest setback will be another blow to Amorim, who lost Mason Mount to injury in the 2-1 victory over Manchester City.
