WAKEFIELD’S attempt to further develop their stadium has been described as ‘fresh hell.’

Trinity want to extend the roof along almost all of the West Stand at Belle Vue and create a bigger TV gantry and studio on that side.

It would be the third such project at what was a ramshackled facility, which the Rugby Football League ran out of patience with.

But not everyone is happy at the scheme, with one objection to the planning application with Wakefield Council making their views crystal clear – even claiming staff making their way to the gantry look in.

The person against said: “As someone that lives at the back of the rugby ground and already finds the new building work has had a detrimental effect on our lives, I can only imagine what fresh hell awaits us.

“The new stand increases the volume of the music and commentary to an unbearable level during some matches.

“The fact I can’t even get my car off my drive on match days because of the supporters cars parked opposite my drive will definitely increase if the amount of people able to attend increases.

“Not to mention the nosy staff that look over into our garden every time they walk up the stairs to the God awful monstrosity of a storage container that we have to look at.

“This stops us enjoying our garden in the summer.”

That objection is in a distinct minority after Wakefield owner Matt Ellis detailed his latest investment plans.

If done, it will complete the transformation of Belle Vue from a mess not worthy of Super League into a top flight stadium.

Supporters countered with: “This would be an excellent addition to the facility and offer better facilities for Supporters on the West Terrace by giving protection from the weather.

“This in my opinion will attract additional visitors to the stadium.”

Another added: “It is crucial for Wakefield Council to grant permission for Wakefield Trinity‘s proposed new roofing on the West Stand terrace to ensure the club’s continued growth and contribution to the community.

“A modernised, sheltered stand will enhance the matchday experience for fans, encouraging greater attendance and fostering a more vibrant atmosphere.

“This improvement is vital for attracting new supporters, increasing the club’s appeal, and securing its future in the heart of Wakefield.”
