West Ham vs Man Utd preview
Two of the Premier League’s more inconsistent clubs go head-to-head on Sunday afternoon as West Ham United host Manchester United.
Neither has enjoyed a particularly profitable start to the 2024-25 campaign with both sitting in the bottom half of the division.
West Ham are 15th with eight points from a possible 24 having lost four of their opening eight league matches.
The Hammers looked to have got things back on track when thumping Ipswich Town 4-1 at the London Stadium, but followed that with a chastening 4-1 away defeat to rivals Tottenham.
The last time they won back-to-back home matches in the Premier League was in December 2023, with the second of those victories coming against Manchester United.
Clean sheets is something of an issue for Julen Lopetegui’s side.
Excluding promoted and relegated sides, no team have kept fewer clean sheets than West Ham in the Premier League since the start of 2024.
That said, West Ham have won their last two Premier League home games against Erik ten Hag’s side with clean sheets in both.
Clean sheets haven’t been a problem for the visitors – away from Old Trafford at least. Manchester United have kept a clean sheet in each of their last three away games in the Premier League.
They’ll need to be at their best to continue that run given they’ve not kept West Ham out in their last four games, and have a quick turnaround after Thursday’s trip to Istanbul.
They’ll also need to improve their record when travelling to the capital. United have only won two of their last 17 Premier League matches in London (D5 L10), with both of those games coming against Fulham.

West Ham vs Man Utd preview betting tips and predictions
Cards
West Ham should be due a few cards on Sunday afternoon and look a good price at 8/5 to collect more booking points.
The Hammers have committed more fouls than any other side in the Premier League with 118. Manchester United have only committed 89 fouls, although they’ve managed to pick up 28 cards compared with West Ham’s 20. Cards look a certainty with referee David Coote averaging 5.5 bookings per match.

On target
Only Manchester City, Tottenham and Bournemouth can beat West Ham’s 121 attempts on goal this season and captain Jarrod Bowen has 16 of those with seven on target. Only Mohammed Kudus has more but with his suspension and Niclas Fullkrug’s absence – Bowen could spearhead the attack.
- Jarrod Bowen over 1 shot on target at 21/10 with William Hill – CLAIM HERE
