What is a golden break in nine-ball pool?

Should a player pot the nine-ball from the opening break, that would result in that player/team automatically winning the frame, this is commonly referred to as a golden break.

It’s considered perfection in the game of nine-ball pool, like a 147 in snooker or a nine dart finish in darts.

The first match of the 30th Mosconi Cup saw a golden break, which set the tone for a thrilling day of action.

Team Europe had an opening day to remember as they look to retain the historic title.

Jayson Shaw and Co won all four games on the night, which is only the fourth time that has occurred since the tournament began in 1994.
