What is Brian Belichick’s net worth?

There is a lot of money to be made in coaching, with Brian’s legendary father Bill reportedly worth a staggering $70million, and bringing home a salary of $12.5million (before he was fired).

Although he hasn’t made it to the highest level yet, most outlets put Brian’s net worth at around $0.5million.

And according to reports he earns $400,000 a year as safeties coach for the New England Patriots.

How did Brian Belichick get into coaching?

Although he is the son of one of the all-time greats, former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick — who was sensationally fired on January 11, 2024 after 24 years and six Super Bowl wins with the team — Brian has built a successful career of his own.

Like many coaches, Brian started off as a player before progressing into coaching.

According to his Patriots Biography, Brian was an “all-league selection” in football and lacrosse at Suffield Academy, Connecticut.

He then studied anthropology at Trinity College and played midfield for the Bantam lacrosse team before graduating in 2016.

But coaching seems to be in the Belichick family’s DNA.

Steve Belichick, Brian’s grandfather, coached between 1946 and 1989 — including a 34-year stint as an assistant football coach with the Navy.

Brian’s dad ignored his own father’s advice about getting into the vocation.

As reported in Telegram & Gazette, Bill explained: “My dad’s advice was to not get into coaching.

“What I have always said to my kids or really any young people that have asked me that question is you have to follow your heart, do what your passion is.”

Other Belichicks working as coaches include Brian’s sister Amanda, who’s the women’s head lacrosse coach for the Crusaders at the College of the Holy Cross, and his brother Stephen, who is outside linebackers coach for the New England Patriots.

Speaking about the encouragement is gave him to see his older siblings working in the field, Brian said: “It gives you that reinforcement, but we’re all on our own separate path. We had to find our own lane.

“I didn’t always think I was going to 100% be a coach. But as time went on, I thought it was the best thing for me to do, and so I did.”

Brian is safeties coach for the Patriots, but started out as a scouting assistant in 2016 before working as a coaching assistant, per his biography.

As People reported, he became a coaching assistant in 2017 and held the position for three seasons before being promoted to safeties coach.

After his promotion, the team’s defense ranked in the top three in the NFL for interceptions, registering 19 in 2022 (3rd), 23 in 2021 (2nd) and 18 in 2020 (1st).

At a September 26, 2023 press conference, Brian spoke about a knee injury that impacted his in-person coaching abilities.

He revealed that he “sustained a pretty serious knee injury at the beginning of the summer” which caused him to have three surgeries and a “long recovery to get back to being functional.”

He continued: “I’ve always been a part of the team in the meetings and kept up with things, obviously. That’s fortunately been made easier nowadays with the accessibility with Zoom and stuff like that.

“And then, towards the start of the regular season, end of preseason, I was more functional to move around, more mobile, and could come back into the building and be with the guys again.

“So that was obviously a huge boost for me mentally after a long summer.”

Brian then said that he has been “really fortunate and lucky” to work with many “great” doctors and physical therapists who work with the Patriots.

He added: “And that’s been a great blessing to be in this situation, have those resources to help me.

“I’m happy to be more normal and just trying to win games with the team now.”
