What was Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s time at the London Marathon?

Jim Ratcliffe ran the London Marathon in 4hrs 30mins 52secs.

He then plans to rush to Wembley stadium to watch Manchester United take on Coventry in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

What was Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s previous finish time?

In 2023, Jim Ratcliffe finished the marathon in 4hrs 32 mins despite having a muscle issue.

Ratcliffe said on Geraint Thomas’ podcast he had completed 40 marathons in his life.

Ratcliffe also admitted to having a problem with his hamstring during last years race, something that also affected his preparation for this year.

“I did London last year. I did four and a half.

“I’m doing London again this year.

“It’s only six weeks away.

“I trained for London last year and I had a hamstring issue.

“I was out for five weeks and I didn’t have much time to retrain.

“I went to Africa, it was quite warm and I had a go.

“It was okay. Exactly the same thing has happened this year.

“I’ve had five weeks out with a hamstring so I only started training a week ago for London.

“It’s not very long. I need to get going.”

Ratcliffe once took on the Marathon Des Sables across the Sahara Desert in 2013, an ultra-marathon which is six times the length of a regular marathon.

It is regarded by many runners to be one of the toughest races on earth.

Elite male racer Alexander Mutiso Munyao, 24, from Kenya finished the London Marathon in 2hrs 4mins 1sec, followed shortly by Kenensia Bekele from Ethopia in 2hrs 4mins 15 seconds.

British runner Emile Cairess finished third with a time of 2hrs 6mins 46secs, followed by fellow Brit Mahamed Mahamed in fourth with a time of 2hrs 7mins 5secs.

Peres Jepchirchir set a new women’s world record at the London Marathon.

She finished in 2hrs 16 mins 16 secs, bettering the previous record of 2hrs 17mins 1sec set by her fellow Kenyan Mary Keitany in 2017.
