John, nicknamed The Entertainer, is a former professional snooker player who was born in Liverpool on May 11, 1964.

He won the 1991 World Snooker Championship, beating Jimmy “The Whirlwind” White in the final.

Since his retirement from competition, he has gone on to become one of the most respected pundits and commentators in the game.
