Who is England defender Jess Carter?

Jess Carter is an English footballer who also holds American citizenship through her father.

She was born on October 27, 1997, in Warwick, England.

Carter is in a relationship with her Chelsea teammate – and Germany goalkeeper – Ann-Katrin Berger.

The couple have made several public appearances together, including red carpet events.

The couple met when Berger, who has beaten cancer twice, joined Birmingham City FC in May 2016. 

They first became friends, then flatmates, before embarking on a romantic relationship.

Jess and Ann-Katrin now live together in London.

Carter has played for Birmingham City and Chelsea.

She debuted for Birmingham in 2014 when she was just 16 years old.

The football game, against Arsenal, saw Carter named the player of the match.

Carter then joined Chelsea in June 2018 on a three-year contract.

In October 2022, it was announced that Carter was extending her Chelsea contract.

She will remain a defender at the club until 2025

How long has Jess Carter played for England?

Carter has represented England as part of both the under-19 and under-20 national teams.

She then played for the senior team for the first time in 2017.

Jess made her debut in a qualifier against Kazakhstan, replacing Lucy Bronze in the 77th minute.

Carter was included in the England squad for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022.

The team famously won the tournament in June 2022, under the direction of manager Sarina Wiegman.

Carter was then confirmed as part of the Women’s World Cup squad in May 2023.

The competition began in July in Australia and New Zealand.

The Lionesses had a successful start to the tournament, beating Haiti 1-0.

Their second match was then scheduled for July 28 against Denmark.
