RUNNING a Premier League football club can make you extremely rich – but it’s not an easy job and it can involve a shock exit.

Manchester United CEO Richard Arnold is set to leave the club before the end of the year due to a huge shake-up at the top.

Richard Arnold is Man United’s CEO

However, the businessman is certainly not short on cash and SunSport has the figures of his net worth.

Who is Man Utd chief Richard Arnold?

Born on April 26, 1971, Richard Arnold was educated at King’s School in Chester before attending the University of Bristol.

The British businessman earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and ironically met former Man United chief executive Ed Woodward along the way.

Arnold landed a senior manager role in telecommunications and media for PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1993 before making the switch to Global Crossing Europe six years later.

The chartered accountant made his big breakthrough in 2007 when the wealthy Brit joined United as group commercial director.

Arnold worked his way up the ladder by assuming control of the club’s business operations until he landed a seat on the board where he would oversee sponsorship contracts such as United’s $1.3billion (£1billion) deal with Adidas.

And all of the British businessman’s hard work paid off as Arnold succeeded University pal Woodward on February 1, 2022, to become the chief executive officer at Old Trafford.

What is Richard Arnold’s net worth?

Arnold has an estimated net worth of around £740,000 to £1m.

His predecessor, Woodward, was paid over £3million during the 2019-20 season, which made him the highest-paid Premier League director that year, according to TSB News.

However, now that he is CEO, Arnold’s Man United salary is yet to be disclosed.

Why is Richard Arnold leaving Manchester United?

Ratcliffe is expected to appoint Sir Dave Brailsford to take charge of football operations at United.

Patrick Stewart, United’s general counsel, is set to be named interim CEO.

Stewart will juggle the two roles until a permanent successor for Arnold is appointed.

Ratcliffe, 71, is reportedly planning a massive overhaul of the club’s player scouting and acquisition network.

And that means football director John Murtough and director of football operations David Harrison could also leave their jobs.

Ratcliffe is said to be concerned about how the trio have continued to oversee a succession of expensive purchases following the departure of previous chief Ed Woodward.

Who are the Manchester United chairmen?

Avram Glazer and Joel Glazer are Man United’s co-chairmen, and have held the position since the Glazer Family took over the Red Devils.

They are the sons of the late tycoon Malcolm Glazer, who bought the club in 2005.

As well as his involvement with United, Joel is co-chairman, with brothers Bryan and Edward, of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the NFL franchise the family bought in 1995.

Meanwhile, Avram, the eldest son, is owner of the Buccaneers.
