Susanne Kekich has been married to Fritz Peterson since 1974.
She was married to Peterson’s former Yankee teammate Mike Kekich before they all swapped spouses.
She had two daughters with Mike Kekich.
Peterson said in an interview that “eventually [Kekich] fell in love with my wife and I fell in love with his.”
How did Fritz and Susanne meet?
Fritz and Susanne met at a party at the home of New York Post writer Maury on July 15, 1972.
They all had some drinks during the party and had fun together.
All of them decided to leave together to get some food in a diner in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
Peterson told PalmBeachPost in 2013: “I said to my wife, Marilyn, ‘Why don’t you ride with Mike to the diner in Fort Lee, N.J., and I’ll take Susanne with me and we’ll meet there and then we’ll go home from there.
“We did that and we had so much fun together, Susanne and I and Mike and Marilyn, that we decided, ‘Hey, this is fun, let’s do it again.’
We did it the next night.
We went out to the Steak and Ale in Fort Lee.
Mike and Marilyn left early and Susanne and I stayed and had a few drinks and ate.”
On March 4, 1973 they announced in separate press conferences that they would swap families.
Peterson called it a “husband trade — Mike for me or me for Mike.”
Susanne and her two daughters moved in with Peterson and Peterson’s ex wife Marilyn and their two sons with Mike Kekich.
Who was Fritz Peterson’s first wife, Marilyn?
Marilyn was Fritz Peterson’s first wife before she decided to swap husbands with Susanne Kekich.
However Marilyn and Mike broke up shortly after the swap and never married.
