SIAN Honnor has been a well-known name in the bowling world for quite some time.

Who is Olympic gold medalist and Bowls commentator Sian Honnor?

Sian Honnor has risen to fame for being a bowls player before turning to commentating.

She was born on January 14, 1988, in Canterbury and is an English international lawn bowler from Whitstable.

She started bowling when she was young and has managed to win quite a few competitions.

Aside from competing in multiple Commonwealth Games, and winning, she has also entered other matches.

At the 2011 Atlantic Bowls Championships, Honnor won Gold in the Ladies Fours and Ladies Team Events.

She won Gold in the Ladies Fours with Julie Saunders, Ellen Falkner and Amy Gowshall.

In 2019 she won the triples gold medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships and in 2020 she was selected for the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship which took place in Australia.

As well as playing, Honnor now does some commentating as well.

When did Sian Honnor compete in the Commonwealth Games?

Honnor first represented England on the world stage when she competed in the Youth Commonwealth Games in Bendigo in 2004.

She managed to win a bronze medal in the mixed pairs with Jamie Chestney.

Just a few years later, she represented England at the 2010 Commonwealth Games where she won another bronze medal in the women’s triples competition with Jamie-Lea Winch and Sandy Hazell.

Fast forward to the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Honnor managed to take gold with Sophie Tolchard and Ellen Falkner.

She was selected as part of the English team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Queensland where she won a bronze medal in the Triples with fellow players Katherine Rednall and Ellen Falkner.

In 2022, she competed in the women’s triples and the Women’s fours at the Commonwealth Games.

She managed to come first place in the triples with Jamie Lea Winch and Natalie Chestney.

Does Sian Honnor present the World Indoor Bowls Championship?

Honnor is a commentator for the BBC on the World Indoor Bowls Championships.

The World Indoor Bowls Championship is an international bowls competition held annually at Potters holiday park in Hopton on Sea.

Matches tend to be streamed online, with the last week of the competition including open singles and open pairs’, women’s singles and mixed pairs’ finals being aired by the BBC.

As well as playing the sport herself, she is also involved in other ways too.

She is the former editor of Bowls International magazine, but she also has a day job.

Away from bowls, Honnor works in PR in the higher education sector.
